The Main Idea’s Professional Development Extension: IN-THE-MOMENT MOVES TO CAPTURE ATTENTION 1.
Student attention-span in class shows that its hard to awake students every moment during lessons. For this reason we will get some strategies to get their attention.
Have teachers look at the chart (you can see the cart just by clicking HERE!) above in pairs and put checks next to the items they do most often. Have them examine which of the
four areas they have the greatest repertoire in. Then have the teachers choose a date to observe each other and give feedback as to
which of the four areas they see most represented in the class.
2. In these pairs, have teachers describe a student in their class and share the types of Attention moves used with this student.
Brainstorm together what other moves might help this student focus.
